Mr Hoong has over 12 years of experience in the technology sectors and founded the Company in 2011. At Onwards, Mr Hoong is responsible for the corporate strategy and sales/marketing matters for the company.
Mr. Hoong was awarded the prestigious Singapore government’s Economic Development Board scholarship in 1997 and obtained his Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering with honors at the Imperial College London in 2000. He was then offered another scholarship to pursue his Master of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering majoring in Communication System at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and graduated in 2000.
After his return to Singapore he was seconded to Powermatic Group Limited, a Singapore listed company, to spearhead their operations in Germany. Mr. Hoong was instrumental in opening up their distribution channels in Russia, Czech Republic and France.
In 2002, he was head-hunted to be Head of Sales for Southeast Asia and India for Internet Security Systems Inc., a NASDAQ-listed company and a global leader in internet security. As one of the key senior executives, Mr. Hoong was instrumental in securing multi-million dollar contracts for the firm and leading it to win numerous awards in Asia, such as the Frost and Sullivan Best Security Product in India for 2004. Subsequently, IBM acquired the firm in 2006 for $1.6B.
Following that, Mr. Hoong was head-hunted to be the APAC regional manager for BigFix, a US company which focused on reducing the cost and complexity of managing networked desktop, mobile, and server computers. In his three-year stint with BigFix, he built up the team in Asia and was instrumental in securing a multi-million dollar contracts from Ministry of Railway China as well as government agencies in Singapore and Malaysia. BigFix was then successfully acquired by IBM in 2010 for about $400M.
In 2009, Mr. Hoong founded P2Cache Pte Ltd, a company which developed an intelligent cache platform. This technology has been deployed in the telecommunication industry in China and Middle East.
Tse, Yee Lok Eric
Mr. Tse has more than 10 years of experience in the Telecommunications and Software Services industries in numerous countries worldwide. He has broad knowledge in mobile applications and video technology. Mr Tse is responsible for the Company’s technology development and is currently spearheading a couple of technology R&D projects at the moment.
Prior to the joining Onwards in 2011, Mr. Tse worked for Hutchison International Limited on mobile content delivery and handset development.
In 2006, Mr. Tse was headhunted by the founder and current president of eAccess Ltd. Japan, and led a team in Japan to develop service delivery platform by going through service requirement and technical analysis. Mr. Tse have advised management with different services strategy and introducing global vendors to them on roaming related and was instrumental on the establishing the roaming agreement with China Mobile.
In 2001, Mr. Tse joined Hutchinson Whampoa Limited as a Senior Engineer and took part in Technology analysis on Location Based Service, Instant Messaging, SyncML and was heavily involved in vendor selection for Video Streaming, Video Encoding, Instant Messaging and SyncML. Mr. Tse also and led a technical team to troubleshoot and provide solutions for any 3G terminal or services related issues to ensure all the applications in 3G terminals were interoperable with commercial services.
Mr. Tse was born in Hong Kong and graduated from Imperial College, London with a Master in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 2000.
Mr Simon Chau has more than 12 years of experience as a product strategist for Internet product offering in both B2B and B2C space. Joining Onwards in 2011, Mr Simon Chau is reponsible for focuses on charting product strategy by working alongside organisation CTO to chart the product roadmap as well as the product implementation roadmaps with its customers.
From 2006 -2010, Mr Simon Chau served as the Director of Product Marketing for Travelocity.com Asia (Zuji Enterprise Pte Ltd), a global leader in the Internet travel industry. In his 5 years stint in the MNC, he help the organisation to grow its presence throughout Asia-Pacific (including Australia) and transform the shopping platform to one that adopts the most efficient flights transaction engine in Asia.
Mr Simon Chau started his career with iGine.com as a Technical expert in the field of J2EE platform. iGine.com focus on sell-side (demand) engine that is tailored for high-tech industry and count many of the well-know companies such as Sun Mircosystem, Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba as its customer to manage their channel and worldwide sales system. Mr Simon Chau graduated from RMIT University (Melbourne), receiving his Bachelor of Computer Science (with Distinction) in 2000.
Steve has over 14 years of experience in the government, corporate finance, industrial engineering, biotechnology and property sectors. At Onwards, Steve is responsible for the corporate strategy and corporate finance matters for the company. Prior to joining Onwards, he was the Group CFO of Weiye Holdings Limited, a PRC property developer based in Henan and Hainan, China and had played a pivotal role in its successful RTO on the Singapore Stock Exchange. Steve is currently also the Founding Partner of Solitarius Capital Limited, a boutique private equity advisory firm.
He was also previously the Senior Vice President at EV Capital Private Limited, a boutique private equity advisory firm. While at EV Capital, he led negotiations for a debt-equity structured investment into a PRC shipping company and a cash and equity offer for a listed company in Singapore. From 2008 to 2010, Steve was the EVP (Business Development – International) and the Chief Financial Officer of Transcu Group Ltd, a biotechnology company listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. While at Transcu, he negotiated for and secured a S$80 million convertible bond issue, a S$72 million equity line facility and private share placement of S$30 million for the company. From, 2005 to 2008, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Advanced Holdings Limited, another mainboard listed company on the Singapore Stock Exchange that provides process equipment to customers in the oil & gas and power generation industries.
Steve was also previously the Associate Director at KPMG Corporate Finance Pte Ltd. He started his career at the Ministry of Finance and was the Assistant Director before he joining KPMG. Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) Degree from Nanyang Technological University in 1998 and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
